Subwoofers playing but no thump

Hey guys I'm in need of some help. Last week I sold my car which I had my subs and amp installed in and purchased a 2014 Silverado and installed them in it. I used the stock HU which has the Bose factory amp and tapped into the rear Bose sub wiring with an output converter I believe it was the SFI-35 output converter. So my problem is, my subs are only hitting at about half its norm with that setup but when I ran RCA to AUX they hit just fine. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I could if it absolutely has to be changed. But I would rather not because the stock HU is pretty nice.
Must not be if your wanting to add stuff to it.

An aftermarket will give you more options of audio than a stock would offer. PLus a lot more features to customize sound whereas the stock HU doesn't offer. And a cleaner signal and won't have to use that ridiculous loc.

I'll tell ya I'm not a fan of LOCs I feel it's a "ghetto" way to get the job done but didn't really have a choice. I honestly just like the stock HU because it has XM Radio built in, hands free phone through BT and it has the OnStar navigation. It's not just a basic double din stock HU it's a fancy touch screen lol but really if there is a guarantee that the stock HU is my issue then I will get a new one.

So question... are the subs just not moving much? Or is it just not as loud as it was in the car? Did you put them in a different box? Need some more info
This^^^.... if you think you got signal... try using a phone with a 3.5mm to rca cord... did the subs get reboxed?... are they in phase?..

I actually attempted the same thing you did in my 2007 silverado. I believe the factory subwoofer output was way to low. It only worked decent when i tapped into the rear speaker feed. But as its been stated, the signal was not very good and i had to adjust my amp carefully to avoid distortion. I now have a pioneer deck and the correct interface and still have my factory bose amp, sub, and door speakers plus the additional 10 and it sounds pretty darn good.

Also, i should have specified, i tapped into the rear speaker outputs before the factory amp. The bose amp is extremely sensitive to impedance. Hope this helps.

It probably is the weak link but there may be a work around. The more advanced factory head units get the fewer people really want to change them and lose all the other functionality and features. I'd be very leery of trying to grab the signal for the sub from after the factory amp but if you have no more gain on your amp or on the LOC you may just try to turn all gains all the way down and give that a whirl or even try testing signal for the subs from front speakers (assuming they are full range?)

Aftermarket head unit will certainly make audio easier but if you like the other features you'll need to do some trial and error to get output you want and settle for the lower quality sound (assuming you can even notice the difference).

you have no idea how many people with issues with the stock head unit and line out convertor we see every other week lol. The only way to keep the stock factory head unit is to buy factory integration signal summing locs or dsps that also flatten the EQ signal and restore lost bass. Cheapest one is 250$
