Subwoofer suggestions

My currentl sub is an Arc Audio Arc12 D2 wired to 1 ohm in a sealed box (1.22ft^3) running off a Sundown 1000D (1000+ watts).

I have been using this sub for several months now and I am not really happy with the bass. This setup has no real "Kick" to the bass...

I recently borrowed my friends Kicker L7 D4 in a sealed box about 1 cube, wired to 2 ohm. This sub, even with only around 600 watts from the sundown kicks WAY harder than the Arc sub. I did have to adjust the gain up slightly, but I have not made any other changes to the EQ or crossovers.

I really notice the kicker having a lot more punchy tight bass than the Arc. the arc actually seems kinda boomy i guess compared to the L7... The Arc sub sounds really good with low end extension, it just doesnt have the sharp punch of the L7

I'm really leaning towards replacing the Arc with something with more punch. What other subs are out there that are equal to the Kicker but might be less expensive!?

What do you have for midbasses? Sounds like a lack of midbass issue...
whats in my sig... DLS UP6i's. I have them crossed over about 80-90ish on the PDX.

What makes you say lack of midbass?

If you're noticing a lack of "punch"...sounds like it.

80-90Hz is fairly high.

I assume you've deadened the doors with multiple layers of sound deadening, have the speakers mounted with MDF/clay, all holes sealed up...?

I have done some deadening to the doors. I understand what you are saying about the midbass but what I was asking in the original post was about the difference between the two subwoofers...

Without making any other changes to the system - The Kicker L7 sounded much more punchy and tight than the Arc12. The Arc has good low end extension but just doesnt seem to kick me in the back the way the Kicker does.

So I can see where ther might be some room for improvement in the midbass department, but even so, there is a noticable difference in the performance of the two subs.
