Subwoofer irregular power volumes

I know i read somewhere about this before, but i couldnt remember the solution.

Currently running a db drive wdx 12 5k & a planet audio ac5000.1d running at 2ohms. The sub is a dual 4 ohm.

The sub is good and i know the amp is in the **** list of amps, but it powers my sub and can out due any local normal setup.

My issue is randomly ill have this weird sub volume issue where it will randomly seem like the sub hits with less power then usual, Then it will go back to normal hitting hard at normal level.

The sub nor the amp is the issue as both have been tested in different cars and setups.

The ground of the amp has been redone multiple times and is on pure bare metal also pure copper to ground without a terminal on it so it can ground 100%.

I noticed the issue even more after i have done the big 3 with all big 3 grounds sanded thoroughly.

Voltage drop has been happening more often then before the upgrade upfront.

Setup:

  • Stock Alternator 140 amps
  • Stock battery
  • Big 3 - 0 Gauge Execution Audio OFC
  • 150 fuse - from battery to amp
  • 4 gauge audio technix cca (amplifier)

What vehicle do you have??And are you running 4 ga from the battery to the amp with just the 0ga for the Big3?
2000 gmc sierra 1500 slt 5.3l...

If its a STOCK Wet cell battery, its prob. Draining too fast to where the alt isn't charging it quick enough to keep up with the Demand. You will end up ruining tha battery before too long, and that alternator is getting one hell of a work out,and wont last long either trying to run that kind of power,on a5k amp/ half power so to speak @2ohms we will say,in which brings me to ask why you did not run 0ga to a supply block with at a min of adding another battery(AGM at the least of one addition),then 4ga short run to the amp, while fused maxed to 4ga wiring of 150a?It takes power to generate power.Especially 2k+ on stock battery and alternator..its not feasible/adequate supply for your demand

Reason is the most this amp could PROB do is 1600 watts being that it has 4x40 amp fuses and that is at 1 ohm.

Running at 2 ohms i could easily say it does 1000-1200 watts with sla on H/U up and sub level maxed at the H/U.

I am partly clipping the amp which i could careless as i am waiting to purchase a new one when i get my second sub to do 1ohm.

I do plan on buying a xs power group 34 battery for up front, but i thought it was weird that it recently started having this weird issue.

Also you seem to be correct as i started to slightly hear a very small noise near the serpentine belt which possibly could be the alt slightly ceasing.

you sure it isn't the music you're playing? Too many times a song is terribly compressed or leveled and there is this weird loss of impact on transient bass peaks.

Very true here^^^Yet, I still believe it to be his supply source..But I do hear a lot of loss in music recordings/downloads,.Most deff have to be careful from a lot of songs from You Tube ect. that will Clipp the Hell out of your frontstage as well as your subs.

My sub has recently started doing this same exact thing...i have had my system in my car for over 2 years and never had any issues. The last couple weeks the bass output will sound like its being restricted almost like its being held back...the amp is wired mono and i've checked all the wiring. It will work fine and then just drop out randomly. I thought maybe one of the channels on the amp might be failing, but i didnt know if i would get any sound at all if this happens. It never quits, blows fuses, or goes into protection mode, so for now im stumped as well.
