Subwoofer install help

Hello, I have two Kicker CVR122's. I was just wondering how I should wiring them up? According to this website(Dual Voice Coil Wiring Options | KICKER) there are two ways to wire them up((Paralleled Voice Coils / Woofers Wired in Series, or Series voice coils / Woofers wired in parallel)). Which would be best? I have a 2ohm 1600w SPL amp, the subs are 400w rms 800max. If you could shed some light on this matter I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Im not familiar with your amp so the first order of business is does it have one output or two (assuming your amp is 2 ohm stable)

1) With one output, wire subs coils in series. This would mean each sub should read 4 ohms. Then wire the subs in parallel to the amplifier, which would bring the ohms back down to 2 ohms.**

** for the techs on the forum that like to wire it in reverse order I say, To each his own!

2) if you have two outputs then I hope that;

A) they are bridgeable, wire as described in step 1

B) they are 4 ohm or 1 ohm stable,

I) 4 ohm stable, wire sub coils in series and connect one sub to one output of the amp

II) 1 ohm stable, wire sub coils in parallel and connect one sub to one output of the amp

C) if neither A or B then you should only use one channel on the amp and wire as described in step 1.

D) buy new amp or buy new subs that are compatible.

Sorry forgot to mention it is a 2-channel bridgeable amp. So I guess Series voice coils, parallel woofers is the way I will wire them. Thanks. Also is there a reason why this works better even though both ways present a 2-ohm load to the amp?

IMO, if you parallel the coils and series the subs, one sub will pull while the other pushes, when you put this in terms of air movement, they cancel each other out. VS the way described both subs push and pull simultaneously doubling the air movement.

For the techs, this is the simplest way I have found to explain the theory.

if your amp has to be bridged, its most likely only 4 ohm stable so series wiring would be the way to go, be sure to keep both positive, and negatives from each sub on the same terminal on the amp.
