subwoofer getting hot wayyyy to fast

So everyone thinks getting more power to the amp is going to keep his sub from getting hot ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif
I do. Sounds like a clipped signal either caused by higher than needed gain settings or not enough current. Upgrading electrical would allow to dial the gain back to where it should be and provide a stable voltage thus reducing the likelihood of a clipped signal. Atleast thats my thought process on this.

If his amp was 50% efficient doing his rated 1600wrms. Thats 800wrms with a 95a alt and no electrical upgrades not counting anything else running in the car.

yea thats not good voltage!

just because you have a low amperage alt dosent mean ur gonna clip. if ur getting better than 12.5 to the rear battery on heavy bass notes ur fine.

my ol comp car had 90 amp alt and a huge rear battery kept up fine with 3k never reaching below 12.5 while driving.

alot depends on the car too, such as if you have power windows, door locks and alot of features car comes with 90 amp alt vrs the same car alot more stripped out will handle more power cause there is more reserve. i bought a forte no power accy's got a ss 1600.1 in the trunk and cant drop below 13.2v at a idle. still putting in a 2nd battery for reserve, couple days actually...

i just got a rockford fosgate t1500-1bdCP. i wired it to 2 ohms on a memphis mojo 15-cm15d4, and it heats up within 15 minutes of me playing it. i set the gains with a dmm, setto 56.5 volts which is 1600 watts rms, the sub handles 1750+, the box has a net internal volume of 4.2 cubs, tuned to 32 hertz, the amp frequency is set to 45 out of 250, the gain is set a little under halfway, i have stock 95 amp alt, with no big three. now my question out of all of this is what is causing the clipped signal? is it because i do not have the proper electrical system which is making the amp work to hard, thus putting out dirty power or what? i have an hc800 in the back and thats about it, my lights still dim at night pretty bad.
You're clipping the hell out of it. It puts out 1000 watts rms at 2 ohms. You set it for 1500 at 2 ohms. THEN you have a lack of electrical upgrades causing it to clip even earlier. Have someone that knows what they are doing set it. You will be disappointed with the output but that's what you bought. Leave it alone and it will last.

It's rated for 1500@ 1 or 2 ohms according to the rockford site.

I just got my HO from Excessive Amperage, I will be installing it in a week. I've heard of other people using EA before, they guy that helped me was pretty cool and they got the alt finished really quick considering it was a euro style and is kinda a pain cuz it's so small, supposed to do 200 amps by 1600 rpms and I got him to make it for $360 flat with shipping included I thought that was a sweet deal for a custom job, now whether or not it performs well I'm soon to find out.

Yeah I see that.... I don't think it's accurate but you're right.
i didnt know you were smarter than the guy that made the amp. look up info on the amp if you dont know about it dont just make assumptions. i set it with a dmm at 56.5 volts which is 1600 watts. i also have 2 2 chanell amps pulling 200 watts each. so im really pulling 2k+ from my system. dont tell me i dont know what im doing please.

yeah i just emailed the guy last night. cant wait to finally get my electrical back up

while increasing available current and amperage to the amp will help setting an amp up with a dmm is not a way of ensureing you have a clean unclipped signal. The only way to do so is to first scope your headunit rca's to find where your headunit clips then scope the amplifiers output to again ensure you have a clean signal.

Guy, you're the one about to cook your sub. Don't try to get cute. You're clipping the amp, plain and simple. It's trying to put out more than it can. If you set it right, then what I said is true. If you know ANYTHING argue it with logic. If not, keep quiet and keep cooking your sub.

alright duumbass. did i not just say im getting a ho alt and doing the big three? and getting something that shows distortion? what do you think i just slam my system even when i smell the voice coil and feel the sub getting hot? no i turn down the gains until i get these things. leave my thread if all your gonna do is cause problems.

I didn't cause problems until you attacked me for no reason. Now you're calling me names. Yes I do think you slam your system until you smell voice coil and feel the sub getting hot. You admitted as much. You should leave your own thread if all you're going to do is insult those who are helping.
