subwoofer down grade

i currently have 2 jl audio 12w7s hooked up to a jl audio 1000/1 and i was wanting to down grade to atleast 2 jl audio 12w3v2s... would the jl 1000 but too much power for the w3s?

As long as you're setting the gains right, it'll be ok. But if you don't feel too confident, get a 500/1 for the W3's.

because i want to be able to easily take out the subs and box when i go on a trip without having another person help me take it out or take all that time to take them out if you know what i mean... im still gonna keep them but as of right now there just too much for my 3-series and ive already got 2 layers of sound deadner in the car and its still outragous on the rattles

the box for the w3s will be much smaller than that of the w7s so you need another box.. it would be cheaper to do a box than new subs..

If you go to 2 W3's youll need a new box. the W7 box will be wayyy too big.

well i mean i already have the w3s with a box... all i was wanting to know if i would actually blow em with the amp im using right now... not really wanting to take that risk

Not if you are careful and dont get crazy with your gains.

they will do just fine.. just be conservative.. keep bass boost off and don't expect any kind of similarity.. they will still get loud but not near as loud and you need to be fine with that and not try to crank it
