Subwoofer connectors.

Terminals won't make a difference in power transfer as long as it is a secure connection.

Only difference it makes is how easy/difficult it is to get a secure connection.

not according to DD.
They'd have to justify some reason for doing it, right? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Personally, I think it's annoying, but I'd never own any DD sub so it's not a problem for me.

thats what i thought before i got my first aq hd312 a few years ago, but its not that bad. ive since i owned 3 other aq subs.

not according to DD. They stated, better current transfer. i wouldnt care, but for alot of wattage flow it make sence.
Lets say for a second that you are running a lot of power to a subwoofer. Let say 10,000 watts for example.

1. DD runs a 10 Gage power wire out from a double set of flat 0.45mm tinsel leads to a 18 to 22 Gage wire on the voice coil leads. I assume that you are going to hook this up like the rest of us that run direct connections off of the driver with wire nuts.

2. Most other companies run a pair of nickel plated spring loaded (or tork tite) terminals that connect to round 0.75mm tinsel leads to the same 18 to 22 Gage voice coil leads (or a large piece of tinned copper or double leads if it is 8 layer flat wound aluminum wire).

Either way you are going to have small amounts of loss (from the amps to the sub) and more power on a very small amount of wire (the voice coil lead) than really matters. As long as you have a good connection and no problems with the tinsel leads, it really does not matter. The only advantage to the direct connects in my opinion is it is easier to run larger wire off of the amp and parallel them, that is really about it.

i've noticed my btl not sounding right, when i took out the sub i noticed corosion (green stuff) around the solder where the new style tensils go. recone is only 3 month old.

Im going to covent fi btl type terminal to dd type.
