hello, my friends and i are puttin in my system this week and i had one of my friends build a box that can hold 2 12" subwoofers in it. My question is he didn't put terminal caps for the wires on the other side he just said to drill 2 holes and run it like that. My other friend said i should get terminal caps to hook the wires up to and run it w/ terminal caps. I was wondering if terminal caps made a difference or if i can just run it without them?? Thanx and please respond as quickly as possible!!!

don't drill holes in the box...i don't know much, but i know that you're not supposed to have any air able to excape or come in, and drilling a hole would do that....assuming it's a sealed box..

Terminal Caps would be a little cleaner, but if you want to rig it up, you can drill holes in the box for the speaker wire. Just make sure you tie a knot in the speaker wire before the hole. This way, if you ever happen to pull on the wires, the knot will keep it from putting pressure on the speaker terminals.

In addition to this, you must apply caulk around the wire. Be sure to be generous with it, too. As stated above, the box MUST be sealed. Any small leaks WILL affect your sound.

Still, terminal caps would be a better way to go.
