its currently out of print, but i will let you know when we get more copies in //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifcan i get that book?
Wow, i guess it wasn't sarcasm. With over 11,000 posts I would have thought you'd have a little bit better knowledge of subwoofers that this. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gifyou guys dont know what you are talking about... i practically wrote the book on this stuff, and it is a FACT that larger subs play lower, louder, and are slower.
this is the main reason why very few people use large woofers like 18"s and what not, and why you see alot of people using 12"s. 12"s have good sound, and a good mixture of loud, play low enough, and sound good.
youve only got 335 posts... but dont worry, we will teach you about car audio //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifWow, i guess it wasn't sarcasm. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif that would be me...you will learnI'm not claiming to be an expert in car audio but i do know enough to know that the size of a woofer has nothing to do with how "good" it sounds or how "fast" it plays. I'm sure someone with more knowledge than both of us will chime in and explain for you.
x2 and x2There is no such thing as fast or slow bass. Bass in real life is not slow or fast, it is just bass. A true 30hz note sounds the same from a 12" or 18" speaker so long as both can produce the same output at the frequency and enclosure resonance is not a factor.
The perception of "fast" or "slow" bass is caused by accurate (ie. flat) output levels, minimal distortion, and most importantly proper integration with midbass/midrange. Bass detail is important for perception of "accurate bass" and bass detail is a function of mid bass clarity and proper integration/phasing with the subwoofer system.
A smaller woofer may sound more accurate in some situations, but this is not because it has a lighter moving mass, it is because the smaller woofer is better able to reproduce higher frequency details in the bass channel which add detail and "speed" to the bass. With proper midbass integration even a large woofer will sound accurate and "fast".
