subwoofer accurcy

im just stating facts...
larger drivers are slower but they play lower. smaller drivers will sound better but dont give you good output or good low end extension.
Facts?? prove your facts with scientific evidence then.

That statement is completely false and the overall idea on "woofer speed" is misunderstood.

There is no such thing as fast or slow bass. Bass in real life is not slow or fast, it is just bass. A true 30hz note sounds the same from a 12" or 18" speaker so long as both can produce the same output at the frequency and enclosure resonance is not a factor.

The perception of "fast" or "slow" bass is caused by accurate (ie. flat) output levels, minimal distortion, and most importantly proper integration with midbass/midrange. Bass detail is important for perception of "accurate bass" and bass detail is a function of mid bass clarity and proper integration/phasing with the subwoofer system.

A smaller woofer may sound more accurate in some situations, but this is not because it has a lighter moving mass, it is because the smaller woofer is better able to reproduce higher frequency details in the bass channel which add detail and "speed" to the bass. With proper midbass integration even a large woofer will sound accurate and "fast".

x2 A 10 does not move faster then a 18'' sub.

you guys dont know what you are talking about... i practically wrote the book on this stuff, and it is a FACT that larger subs play lower, louder, and are slower.

this is the main reason why very few people use large woofers like 18"s and what not, and why you see alot of people using 12"s. 12"s have good sound, and a good mixture of loud, play low enough, and sound good.
