Not everyone wants to hear your stereo, and that is thier right.

I'm surprised to see a comment like this on this web site, but I'm glad to see it. I find the bass booming of vehicles passing my house to be a great nuisance. It interrupts my concentration, rest and work. And don't get me started on those modified mufflers -- not considered audio, but similarly annoying.
zane:
as it likely needs improvement. Fact is, most people will be annoyed with the bass that can be heard for blocks. I know that I am. I used to compete in IASCA and USAC SPL divisions and averaged arround 156.4db from my system. I still compete to this day, however in the IASCA and USAC Expert/Pro 601+ SQ divisions. I am telling you this only from experience, I have been in the car

What is this? Can you point me to more info about this seemingly car audio related competition? I'm curious.
zane:
Please exercise responsibility with your system and use it for YOUR enjoyment only. It's time we all start promoting a posative image of the car audio community, before they are outlawed as well.
This may not mean a hill of beans to you, however, when you are the one trying to put a 3 month old infant down to sleep; and are constantly bothered by dis-respectful "Boom Cars," I guarantee you will have a different point of view.

Yes, exactly! Because assaults (booming me and my house is EXACTLY like coming over and pushing at me) are not going to be acceptable, once people generally understand the effects of subwoofers pounding.
This is my first message here, and I don't know how the system distinguishes between quoted material and comments, so apologies if the above is unclear.

Whats the diff from a harley davidson driving by your house,a jet fighter flying above your house or a car with bass driving by.Noise is noise if you don't like it sound proof your shack or live with it.
Sounds good to me. Direct the energy of your subwoofer to yourself, so you get teh benefit. There is no reason why I should feel vibration in my house or my body a couple hundred feet away.I think it's more impressive when all you hear is a slight rattle coming from the trunk of your car. While your inside your car getting a full body massage from your subs.
I basically agreed with you on all but this. Yes, planes need to make that noise but harley's don't. I don't know anyone who drives a motorcycle because they 'need' too. You can drive a much quieter car so basically most people use cycles for fun. Also, a lot of people like to add that loud exhaust noise to their bike to make it seem more powerful. The difference is:
2/ some modified exhaust systems and Harleys sound just like airplaines flying low. The difference is that airplanes and pile drivers make noise as a necessary result, not for fun. Ads that show the "fun" of waking up your neighbours (I'm not making this up) and irritating people show the real motivation for much of this thoughtless noisemaking. Juvenile minds enjoy vandalism and harrassment and this is just another version of the same attitude.

Yup, I agree. I wasn't saying noisy clattery farting-camel Harleys are okay. A motorcycle can be reasonable transportation or a stupid noisemaker. The Harleys tend to be the latter category.I basically agreed with you on all but this. Yes, planes need to make that noise but harley's don't. If you hate bass, you hate motorcycles since neither is absolutely needed in life. I agree people need to turn it down but I hate it when the people that complain about the bass are sometimes the ones reving the harleys outside of my house.
I don't care about the date of the thread. It was a thread with a topic that interested me. I guess it's on the web site for a reason, huh?Hum.. maybe you should look at the date of the thread //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/censored.gif.f9ad8e7c6db58c5530c5a0a20a3b5baf.gif

My question is, why the hell do you come on a car audio forum supporting ANTI-CAR AUDIO?
http://www.lowertheboom.org .
QUOTE]
Supporting anti-car audio HUH?? I have no idea what you are talking about.
Thanks for the link, though.
Since you ask, I found this forum searching for info about WTF is this boomcar nonsense that I never heard in the bit (civilized) city and only discovered when I moved to what I thought was a peaceful rural town.
