ok i have 2 cents to put in. 1) stop bringing up dead threads that were started 9 months, 2) no offense but if you were a professional installer you are the terrible example of what is truely wrong with the car audio world.

Hey, I have 2 Alpine Type R 12's in a ported box with an American Bass CX1200d amp.

They have good SQ and imo they pound really hard. They are my loudest system so far, but I have not had anything too crazy and it's my first ported box.

For the money, if you are buying from a store that is, I don't think there will be anything significantly better than the Type R 12's. I doubt that it will beat your friends 4 12's but for your money, that'd be hard either way.

When i crank my system and I'm about 10-20 feet away from the Wendy's I work at, despite all the noise inside, my coworkers can hear me loud and clear, and I shake all the steel in the building.

I dunno if that helps at all, but just thought I'd let u know what I think of the subs.

Better use some of the 1500 to buy some car security... Not only would you be annoying people with the loud music but attracting some unwanted attention.. Keep blasting your music like that and all you will have is a broken window, gapping hole where your deck used to be, and a empty trunk. Esspecially when your at school; while your in class they could be going through your car. so take into consideration into whos listening besides you.

I think it's more impressive when all you hear is a slight rattle coming from the trunk of your car. While your inside your car getting a full body massage from your subs.

i really dont understand why YOU would want to pay so OTHERS can/have to listne to your music?

well anyway, 2 good 15's in a well made and well tuned ported enclosure and you WILL be heard coming from very far down the road.
