Subs that get loud off little power

higher the efficiency of the SYSTEM the higher the output... some woofers are louder @ 40hz (typical SUZ install) and some louder @ 50hz(typical walled off car/ extened cab truck) it depends highly on the cabin, phasing, woofer,box...

for instance you can take a DD 9515 put it in 5.5 cubes tuned to 40 with 500watts and it will POUND.. even though its made for high power handing theminally/mechanically its highly damped allowing you to get nessicarry control in the much larger box and much greater port area...

some woofers are designed to be LOUD, some designed to have a wide bandwidth and sound excellent, some just do both great...

Those 400 RMS JBL's get pretty freaking loud!

I forget the model #, but they are great if you go about a cube over sized and do a pair on 500 RMS. Will be plenty

I love my GTO's, but no. :\

I'm running two 10"s (GTO1002D's) off 600 watts, and it sounds nice (dual chamber, .75 cubes sealed per chamber), but it's definitely not loud.

As to OP: You want to try to find a sub that has a high dB sensitivity, and like previous posts say, enclosure design will play a big part. The bigger the box, the louder it can get, but the more likely it is to have over-powering issues. So you have to watch your gains.

I think you're talking about the GTOXX1Y, XX is the size of the sub and Y is the ohm of the coils. I have the 1002, you're probably talking about the 1012s and what not.

Pretty much anything Image Dynamics makes is super effecient! Both IDQ and IDmax subs sound very good and get decently loud with 500rms or less.

I have my idmax on like 200rms and its plenty loud.

i got the boston g1's they get decently loud off little power.. they just cat take a ton of it.. two BNIB shipped to my door for $130.. i run about 400 to each, and they love it

memphis pr's might work good for you too
