Subs That Can Handle 4K RMS or More

Dont get me wrong... by not high I mean they can take gobs of power... but there not really a daily sub... but I guess it also depends on how you build them.
yeah i see what you mean..i just put that woofer because i seen couple of people power those woofers with 3-4k+rms on daily drivers...so thats why.but i guess i was wrong.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

i thought rusty said the goal with the lvl 5's was a sub that can take high power burps and do good numbers but still be a reliable daily sub.

thats what i thought also..i read something about this a while back..

maybe i should just pm him and get a true answer on the LVL 5 sub

#1 amps are const voltage... thermal compression of the driver reduces power from the amp over time (use a const power amp and the story changes)

#2 the amps most all of you have are switching amps, at least the ones that can put out 4k+ short term, if you want a amp that can really deliver high power for long term you need a different kind of beast. here is one example

http://www.era5.co.uk/Era5-9180-GCA.pdf. Its 130 pounds for starters.

and again, as i said, the problem is not that speakers cant take enough power, you need to consider how much SPL they deliver for that power. RMS is really irreverent in terms of transducer design..... its an amp spec after all.

My custom built Treo CXTs have not been phased with 5k each daily.

Or give Jacob a call at Sundow I am sure he could also put something together for you. RD probably not. A lot of competitors were starting there HW and SHW on fire.

try the MT fully loaded, RD SHW, Sundown.

if you really want to put 4k rms on those subs, be sure that the voltage wont drop to 11volts and give your amp and sub a clean signal to prevent overheating of youre gears. as long it is clean and youre voltage is high i think those subs can play hard for 20 minutes.

that's just my two cents brother!

I didnt read all 5 but i think it all comes down to what peoples def. of "DAILY" is.

Ill be finding out how one sub not listed takes 4400watts true daily soon enough...ill have a thread of that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Thats what every company says.....

Dont take my word for it..... I have only messed with about every single super sub out there besides a few.... and I have about 2000- 10,000 watts to play with at my disposal... and a ton of boxes and different setups..

I have tested and played with each one until I find its destruction point

I have seen the level 5 tested and played with.... they take GOBS of power for burps and meter very well..... but for daily driving with high power...(4k+)....good luck....

Ya I'm pretty sure the HW can take some power. And I KNOW the SHW can...
oh well. some people have had problems with them. but 99 percent of people i know cant blow them and on burps have put well over 10k each. i personally have strapped 2 3250s to 1 18. did great.

Nobody happened to ask what frequency said box would be tuned at. A box with two 15's playing a 60hz tone will not be able to dispurse heat as quickly as a box with the same drivers doing a 40hz tone. Lower the frequency the more elongated the wave becomes causing the drivers to move more air. Because this is how they cool VS's more air movement means cooler coils. Sorry I am drinking and typing on a mini 9 maybe someone else can elaborate on this more for me ...

Polo.

great point!

60 hz is like an incandescent light bulb in the oven
