subs for my factory HU

i just fot an 01 sebring and was wondering if i could hook my amp and subs to the factory unit. it has a 4 disk changer so i dont know if that causes any problems. it has an external amp under the seat also. could i just splice into it with an adaptor with audio connections and wire my amp directly to it. i dont know much about this so what i may have said may not make sense.

well you can use a line converter which takes speaker leads and converts them to an rca connection. or you can try to bypass the factory amp.

Stick with the stock radio unless it doesnt play cds, which would suprise me if it had a tape deck in there. Stock Radios are alot nicer looking and look clean and flush with your car. What you could do it just what bone said and what i did. by an Output converter for like 10 dollars, which splits your speaker wires into rcas, and run your rcas from the coverter to the amp. bypass the stock amp, trust me. The tricky part is your remote wire, If you have the U shaped connector, about the size of a fuse, you could wire a speaker wire to the U shaped connector, and plug it in where the radio fuse is, dont worry you shouldnt blow nothing because the fuse completes the whole circuit in your car. With that wire, run it to your remote slot on your amp.....I know it sounds complicated but its not. THen run your power wire from your fuse relay system or battery to your amp.

If you want to spend 100-300 dollars on a cd deck when you got a perfectly good deck in yoru car, your choice, but id stick to the factory, because it looks alot cleaner and flush with your stock in there.

I don't see the need of getting a new deck unless its to power some new speakers. Doesn't look as good and flush as a stock HU, imo.

you guys aren't taking your cars to the right place to get em installed thats why they arent as flush--most places use those pre made kits that they charge an arm and a leg for. i make my own--with a little imagination and skills it looks like it was made at the factory.

yeah stock blows.. in my humble oppinion at least. They just dont sound as good or have as many options as an aftermarket one.

I think aftermarket is the way to go...HOWEVER, I hate taking my Faceplate out and Im thinking about keeping stock HU on my next car.

It really depends on the factory HU to me. Mine sounds a hell of alot better than an aftermarket does. Dont ask why, just does.
