Subs facing each other

it works, you just have to test with the distance between the woofers to get the most out of it. angling the boxes will help as well, sort of a sideways clam shell if you will. sounds like a fun project to learn a lot on.

Oh I'm not knockin on anyone's knowledge on car audio. The people that have told me this are reputable installers from reputable car audio shops in my area that have been around for years! I just don't understand why he's jumping on the wagon and saying we're retarded. We're all learning here. At that time when hearing that, I was a noob in car audio. Does he know more them me...MOST LIKELY. sorry.
My point is that without solid rationale to back up what they're saying, they're only pontificating. To top that off they're wrong. Rather than blindly listening to what they say how about have them explain the reason behind their thoughts. That does two things, 1) it forces them to actually think about what they're saying and if they actually do understand what they're talking about they should have no problem explaining it or in the process of trying to explain it they'll figure out the error in their though process and realize that they're giving bad info or 2) they'll show that they have no clue and prove to you that they are not someone that you should be getting advice from on that subject.

I think the only way for the waves to start canceling is if they were A wavelength's distance away from each other, but those are too long for it to happen in a truck...so you will be good.

I liked the squeezing analogy...

Wayyyyyyyy back in the 90's I had a 88 cavalier z24(trunk car). Had 4 RF punch tens in 2 seperate sealed boxes facing each other about a 2 feet apart, and was still hitting in the high 130's. It sounded great. Like another guy said, just experiment with it, but I dont see you cancelling out unless you were to point the sub of each box at the port of the other box. I couldnt say for sure, never tried that.

I just did enclosures using 2) 12" MTX 9500s and testes 150.4 dB dB drag style, 151.8 in the kick.

This was the loudest I have ever gotten these 9500s.

They would only cancel eachother if they were moving in opposite directions. This is what we usually call "out of phase"

Its the internet, people exaggerate their annoyance with others, don't take it personally...

But come on...it bugs the hell out of me when people just hear something from someone who they have faith in (or sometimes don't even have any reason to believe) and just blindly believe it without even questioning it in your own head...

Helotaxi knows what he's talking about, and I have a lot of faith in stuff he says, but that doesn't mean I'd just accept it if he told me my subs would be louder if I poked some holes in them...

I'm just asking you to think for yourself and say...hmm...does that really make sense? If not, you can either choose not to believe whoever told you, or you can ask him to explain himself until it actually does make sense...I can't stand pure ignorance

:fyi:Its the reason we went and destroyed Iraq, and the reason most of this country now has at least some skepticism and hateful or nervous feeling when they hear someone speaking arabic, or see someone that looks arabic, or find out someone is muslim...etc...despite the fact that if some of these people would actually look into it for themselves, they'd discover that islam is probably the most peaceful and morally positive religion there is:fyi:

/mini rant

no hard feelings, just think from now on
