Subs don't have a tight "punch"

Trey, thanks dude.Like i said, mess around with me all you want. I'll be the first to admit it that I know as much about car audio as I know about rocket science. That's the reason I'm here in the first place.

Right now I dont have a dmm, so whats a safe place to keep the gain at for now?

Also how do I check the tuning freq of the box, seeing as I have no manual or anything. Will it be printed somewhere on the box itself?

I'm going to compose a list of features that I'm having trouble with later today. Hopefully you guys can help me get my system bumping.

Thanks for all the help so far.
i'd bet that it's tuned to about 40hz. probably lacking port area.

hey dan, go **** urself

A small bump in mid-bass output helps alot. Most of the "punchy" sound is over 50hz. A good set of fronts will help with that, or turning up your subs crossover just a little. If you want a dracstic change, you can set your amps bass boost center frequency around 65 hz and turn it up a little bit. Don't really crank it up, or you may go into clipping.

you can do SQ ported as well:fyi: kicker subs aren't SQ regardless of whether it's ported or sealed. they actually don't perform very well sealed compared to ported.
Ive never heard SQ in ported but honestly i havnt heard too many ported setups. Thats hwy im getting the Hifonics Squares instead of the Kickers = ) I cnat do ported in mine

the hifonics square subs aren't much better sealed either. you'll get better results by picking better subs for sealed enclosures.

Well for now, what I have is what i have. I'm gonna be staying with the sx600.2, and the kicker subs for now. Cash is a little tight and I have some big expenses comming up. Only thing I'm going to change in my system right now is my speaker amp.

But anyways,

If you guys could just give me some basic settings that every amp is going to have, like Trey did juts to get started that would be great. Then I can get back to you with the settings I don't know about. So many numbers, and slopes, and frequencies, and volts, ughhh makes my head spin. lol

the head unit could have something to do with it also.

Alright guys,

Heres a list of the settings I didn't know what to do with.

Phase 0-180 degrees

Komp -24dB through 24dB (Default 0)

Frequency- Default 40hz

Bandwith (Q Value) .5-10

Low Pass Slooe

High Pass Slope

Low Pass Freq-106hz-20325hz (Default 20325)

High Pass Freq (Default 84 Hz)

Phase 0-180 degrees

Phase should be set at 0
These adjustments are your "EQ" section of the amp.

Komp -24dB through 24dB (Default 0)
I have no idea what "Komp"means;but given the next two on your list it must be a eq notch filter. "Komp" (never heard that one before) must be the amount of cut or boost of the filter. Leave it at zero for now.
Frequency- Default 40hz

This is the center frequency of the filter. Leave it at 40 for now.
Bandwith (Q Value) .5-10

This is the width of the filter in octaves 1/2 octave (narrow) - 10 octaves (useless wide) Leave it at it's lowests setting. It does nothing till you adjust the amount of cut or boost; which you called "Komp".
These adjustments are the "crossover" section of your amp.
Low Pass Sloope
This should be selected for subs. It allows the low frequencies to "Pass" and blocks the highs from reaching the subs
High Pass Sloope

This would be if your running full range speakers, you don't want it for subs. It would allow the high frequencies to "pass" and block the subs from gettting to the full range speakers
Low Pass Freq-106hz-20325hz (Default 20325)

That's unusually high. Are you sure you don't have the freq's for low and high pass backward? You want it around 60 hz
High Pass Freq (Default 84 Hz)
Hope that helps.
