I plan on buying 2 Perfect 12.1D's and powering them with 2 JBL BP1200.1's(that's 1200W each). First of all, what guage wire should be used for the power and ground? and second, what gauge wire should be used from the amps to the subs? thanks in advance.

Man I can smell that burnt Voice coil already ! 4 gauge to the amps and 12-14 gauge to the subs , All depends on how far of run you have really thou !

I'd run 8g to the amps, but I've always gone for a little overkill. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Oh, and BTW, match the RMS ratings of your components, not their max output / handling, you'll have a more reliable and better sounding setup.

God bless you!

Originally posted by Moocow16 oh, my bad, apparently they're 1200W rms, not max like i thought, oops. hehe.
One 1200.1 would be plenty of power for 2 perfects !! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif Be sure to get (2) dual voice coil 4 ohm perfects so you can have a 2 ohm load //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i thought that if i get the svc versions(both at 4 ohms) and i run the 2 of them in series then it cuts the ohm in half and if it's run in parallel, then it doubles the ohm. can anybody confirm this?

Nope other way around. Paralell lowers, series raises. two 4ohm SVC wired in paralell will give you 2ohm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

That would be a function of the harness, not the HU, I think. Have you looked into a Maestro or iData interface? i would check with crutchfield...

thanks DB, that definitely helps swallowing a $300 price tag 😂 these would essentially be running midbass for me too

What is your budget? With being exposed to Rain.. I would recommend looking at a marine grade SAS Bazooka for the sub stage

Don't forget Hoffman's Iron Law. You can have 2 of the 3: low end, efficiency/sensitivity or small enclosure size...
