im going to make a ported box but i hear that you have to adjust the subsonic filter on your amp.i don't know which knob it is i have a lpf 50-200,hpf 50-200, bass boost 0-18,and impute sensitivity 5-.2

is it said that if i tune my subwoofer box to 32hz does that mean that the hpf has to be a little lower than that.im pretty confused on how to do this right now explanation would help

Subsonic filter in a ported design cuts out the freqs below your tuning freq to prevent damage to your sub(s).

Uhm, what kind of amp do you have? Seems it doesn't have a subsonic filter unless it's fixed. The x-overs you mentioned (50-200Hz HP/LP) aren't meant to be SSF's (unless you're tuning crazy high) and they probably don't have a steep enough roll-off.

Ok so your amp doesn't have a SSF. I'd recommend getting some Harrison Labs Fmods or one of their adjustable ssf's. Just find one that closely matches your tuning freq and you'll be good. http://stores.ebay.com/HARRISON-LABS-INC-FACTORY-OUTLET

not trying to jack the thread or anything, but $29 for those little things? Does anyone make less expensive subsonic filters? I need a couple for my amp.

Hooker makes them....and PAC use too I don't know the prices though....If your HP goes low enough on your amp say 20-35hz you can use it providing your deck has a low pass filter built in....That way you create a bandpass for your ported subs....If running sealed boxes a sub sonic or infrasonic as called on Kenwood amps is not really needed....
