not sure if this is the right section or not, but i have a problem... I just relaized that my amp (stetsom 2k6d) does not have a sub-sonic filter, and my headunit (kdc-x889) does not either (not to my knowledge anyway, if anyone can tell me if there is a way to do it). I'm told by Mr PWK that i need to set my ssf to 25 hz to keep the new box design from shredding my sub at 25 hz and lower... anyway this can be done with the same equipment i have now(question mark)

any help would be greatly appreciated

Does this mean he wont have any notes under 30 hz or does it roll off? I dont really understand how SSF work. I was told to always have it on at 20hz because you are wasting power and cant hear the notes anyway. Is that right or is based on the woofer?

It rolls off, just like any other xover filter. A subsonic filter is simply a high-pass crossover with a fancy name.

That's a popular misconception. Its correct you cant hear 20hz (or, most people cant), but you certainly can feel it. Notes that dip into the subsonic region can still create ambiance, and is a major factor in the tactile feel of your system.

Your new box is ported I assume. What's the tuning frequency. It depends on the exact enclosure, sub, and wattage, but you can usually set your SSF a good half-octave below enclosure tuning.
