Sub selection help

I have been around car audio since 1979 and used to keep up with new gear but for the last 10 years I have not kept up. My last big build was in 1991 4 Kicker 18" in 6 cubic feet per sub powered by a Autotek(ZED)7600 Dont laugh back then things were much different.

I need some ideas on the right subs for a new project.

Box will be in the back of a 04 Dodge QC and will be floor to roof where the 40% portion of a 60/40 seat is. Should have room for 3-4 12" subs.

My taste is the deepest lowest bass not Burp/Fart bass.

I looked at Ascendant Skar DC Sundown and others but just really do not have a clue on how they sound or hold up.

My current idea should be powered by a single or dual amps close to 3000 RMS.

i Will use a audio control epicenter.

SPL is not my goal just low and loud.

cf per sub?. I have been eyeballing the SA X-series subs. LOTS of low end. Just came out so I don't know yet. Another one is the AQ hdc312.. I think the other guys around here said the AQ wants a bigger box and the SA is more musical. Just my $.02

I have been out of the scene for about 10 years also.. just trying to get back into it now that the kids are older, more molah in my pocket for my hobbies!!...

Of the three you mentioned, Ascendant and Sundown would be my picks. I've never used the Ascendant subs but I have the other two and if you're looking at the upper end Skar stuff, they're probably good. The problem I have is that I bought some IVX- v1 10s, 12s & 15s and wasn't too happy with them. The subs sounded good but the pole vent is tiny and, in fact, so tiny that if you mount one inverted the pole piece makes a whistling sound. I'm sure it does so if mounted with the motor in the box too, it's just that you can't hear it. As for power handling, they're rated at 300 watts and probably do well on that power. However, I tested the 10s and the 15s with 500 and 1000 watts and they bottom out very easily. Especially when compared to an RE SRX and a JBL GTO Pro 10 that I've also recently tested... those are 400 & 300 wrms respectively and neither bottoms out on even 1000 watts. They do fine but obviously, get hot.

I know that Skar has gone to a much larger pole vent on the v2 IVX woofers so at least they are addressing design flaws but in the end, I'm not too please with performance.

The post above me is good, too. I have no experience with the C2 audio woofers but I also haven't read a bad review on them and, they look to be of good quality.

Really depends on your box are per sub. The ascendant subs are nice. Very nice I've ran them in the past and doing a build with some now. I also have ran dd and have a set of dc lvl 4 subs now dc likes very small boxes. Even ported so if space is tight look there.

I will have 5 cubic FT gross since the area is smaler that I first thought and was leaning to the SA12" sundown sub and sticking to two.

Not really looking to deal with any custom or hard to get subs.
