Sub recommendations $300-500 price range

Hey guys, its been a while since I've paid any attention to new toys on the market. I'm wanting to know what the new hottness is in that price range.

My wants:

Reliability/solid construction

Relatively high (Bl^2)/re

Stiffish suspension

I'm probably doing two 15s in a single cab S-10 blow through in a transmission line enclosure. I'm shooting for ridiculous sub 25hz performance. A driver fitting the bill above should work well for what I want.

So far, my eyes are on the SoundQubed (why the change from AQ? SoundQubed is a terrible name) HDC4 15s. Better bang for buck out there? I might buy used might buy new... I'm not opposed to either. Thanks for any input!

They were in a legal battle with Audioquest (another AQ), but yeah that's probably best bang for your buck

Ah. They look like decent subs. Not sure about Sundowns new offerings or Skar stuff. Any small time companies just getting started with any promising drivers?

Sundown is still recommended by a lot of people. Not so much Skar. I'm not sure when they opened but Tantric Sounds is used by quite a few people. CT Sounds just got founded last year, they have a good lineup of subs, amps and speaker.

The DSS Ethos are getting alot of praise over on SSA. They're rated by the amount of power that it will take for them to reach Xmax and not thermal ratings.

Stay away from DC. I ran them for two years with nothing but issues. They are way to inefficient with **** soft parts.

Hdc3 reason I say this two HDC4's will run you way over 500. let alone two HDC3s

Those DSS Ethos are killer i have a local houston videon of them on a american bass 1100.1 running on stock+agm..

And those exos really need some power to really perform.

hdc3 aluminum coils get my vote. I did terrible things to 2 12s and they took it all day everyday.

never used the hdc4s.

Thanks for the notes guys! I'm going to check these out. Oh and the price range would be for each sub. Power will be decided upon based on drivers. I will probably run in the 4k range. I'm shooting for nasty hair tricks at or around 20hz... Should be able to pull that off with some ease.

That might be worth looking into. I'm still a month or two out on this as I'm still finalizing things on the vehicle. Just planning phase now.

I'm really liking the specs on the IA Death Penaltys. A little expensive but they look like they have the exact specs I want. High force factor, stiff suspension, and medium low Qts.
