Sub question and suggestion

Yeah it'll be 5-6 for the sub. I figure if I cheap out now I'll just end up upgrading and upgrading which will suxors, after I get the sub I'll just need a to think of a way to make it theft proof.

And buddy, if you have $500-$600 for a sub, you can get whatever you want. Not many pure SQ subs will run you up that much. You're a baller.

Not a baller, If i was I wouldn't consider the IDMAX and just get the w7. I just think it'll be cheaper for me in the long run if I get get what I want now instead of cheaping out and settling for something that I'll have to upgrade or replace after awhile. Planning on having the amp and sub for awhile.

It does look like the IDMAX will be my best bet, antoher quick question is does the box need to look somehat cubish? I read that article on the Golden Ratio however it doesn't seem to practical for me since I'll be buildign the box and that's a bit too much measuring. Will I have to compensate in any way if I build the box with the correct volume but a bit weirdly shaped?

Nope, as long as the internal volume of the box you build is what you need, then you will be fine. Are you going to be fiberglassing a box?

So, using MDF, what would the shape of your box be?... Doesnt seem like there is much reason to make a complicated box other than a cube.

That is a SPL sub man, an XXX would deffinitly not fit what he wants.

The SE or RE might do it for you though.

I woudl still say the IDmax.

I'm surprised no one corrected you yet. You have zero experience with the XXX. The XXX was designed to be a SQL driver. It will yield amazing SQ and get extremely loud.

It is not a SPL woofer. That's what the SX and MT are for.
