I have a JL 12W6 powered by a 500 watt rockford fosgate amp with a Pioneer head unit. I reinstalled it after taking the sub out of the box to check it out because I thought I burned it up. I threw my golf clubs in the back of my tahoe behind the sub box and it pulled the wires out of the sub, and I put them back in in a hurry, wasnt paying attention, and stupidly put the positive and negative in backwards. I only drove it for about 10 minutes, and noticed it sounded weird towards the end, and smelled a burning scent as I pulled into my driveway. there was a hissing noise, and was what looked like a wet spot in the center of the cone, and I looked at the back of the box and saw what i did and thought it was blow, since when i put the wires back it didnt work. i waited awhile before putting in another sub, but noticed it didnt work either, so i started checking everything else. I then discovered that my JL did still work, however, every time I turn my truck off, there is a little pop from the sub right after it shuts off, and I have learned at in order to get the sub to work, I have to start the car, and wait til there is power going to the sub, go pull the positive wire out from the sub box and put it back in, which always gives me a little spark as I plug it back in. It will not work unless I do this, and it is new speaker wire as well. No matter what i do, i get that pop as I turn off the stereo, and it WILL NOT work unless I wait until it is playing at a low volume and take the wire out and put it back in, and I cannot figure it out. Any ideas?
