Sub Placement *Google Sketchup Video*

Box is 37" wide and the port is 6.5" wide this means that (2) 15's wont be able to be side by side.

I'm considering having on sub placed on top and on the front panel.

Has anyone ever tried this?

What side effects would I see from doing this?

true.. may have to offset to one side moire or further back

Im pretty sure the magnets wont touch. This sketch isnt exact I just put it together real quick so you can get a visual. But if they are too close to each other I can offset them to fix that issue.

Any other input?

umm logically i think the sound waves will have a different pattern and run into each other....? (not totally sure, its physics and i'm no physic buff)

Heres one of Meade's old boxes said it was nuts on the lows and worked good for what he wanted i believe:

Soo should be fine i would guess

What if I invert the sub on the top? If I did that I would have to change polarity to keep it in phase right?

LOL, thats funny you post that, I was just talking to 9912ds on AIM and he was tellin me about his setup that he bought from nG. He has the polarity changed on all the inverted subs.

I just noticed that Meade used (6) 6" ports which means those (4) 18's only had 113sq.in. of port area. Doesnt that seem like thats not enough port area?

Shoot maybe I should just go with (4) 6" flared ports in my design which would be 75sq.in. of port area for (2) 15's.

Im pretty sure its not just the subwoofers....Its about how many cubic feet the box is

What is the OD of the subs? You could mount them offset to gain a little more room: top left/bottom right on the baffle........
