sub not loud when trunk is closed ...

well i opened up the armrest on the rear seat and yeah there is a hole that leads to the trunk ... but that doesn't help much ... my system is loud but it's losing efficiency because of all the rattling ... just talked to a friend who suggested installing a kicker kx3 crossover with subsonic filter option which is supposed to cancel out unwanted frequencies that cancel out the bass and cause the rattle ... will that help?
that makes no sense what so ever,.....unless you sound deaden the car which you should...or no bass at all is going to stop the rattles...not a kicker kx EQ................

guys please help me out here ... will covering the trunk walls with foam help?
No foam. you needs to make sure the bass can escape the trunk. check the rear dash. cut a hole out if you need to. the bass should hit the rear wall then flow around the sides to the front of the car. i would put them about 3 inches from the rear wall of the trunk. Dont change the pahse on the amp. Make sure you did not wire them up wrong. take each woofer and make sure it is not crossed on one sub. once again make sure you have enough ventalation in the rear deck to allow the bass to flow into the cab of the car. The only thing I would use that foam for, would be to dampen any areas that are rattling. Good luck.

What a bunch of fuking idiots.

Cancellation? lolz u sure?

Care to explain how its possible for his system to be louder when he opens the trunk is cancellation is his problem? You can't because thats bullshit.

It has nothing to do with cancellation, it's a lack of air volume.

Loudness is basically determined by how much air a sub can move. The more air your subs have in front of them for the sound waves to affect. The louder your subs will be. When sound is moving in open air it is maintaining amplitude much better than when it is reverberating in a tiny box. Every time the wave hits your car walls and reverberates, it looses massive amounts of energy. Hence the reason "the bigger the box, the more efficient the sub" (it works both ways)

EXACTLY.

Vent the dang trunk or sell the car.

The sound waves are being reflected off the trunk and then being cancelled out. When you open the trunk the waves are not reflected off the trunk and the cancellation doesn't occur.

Edit: Wait, i just read that his subs were facing the rear. So i guess this isn't the issue.
