guys my type r 12 sounds really loud from the inside and when i keep my trunk open but it's quite disappointing when the trunk is closed ... i was thinking of covering the trunk walls with foam ... will that help? ... we don't get dynamat or anything of that sort in this part of the world ... so foam is pretty much the only option ... please help me out here ...

Try moving the box around, flipping around to face into the car, switching the phase (i.e. switching positive and negative wires to the sub), and try multitudes of stuff and see what's loudest.

*facepalm* Ignore everything above.

You are not properly exchanging air in your trunk and letting the sub breathe. You need to provide more air exchange in the trunk. Ideally, most trunks are vented from the factory. Your car being an overseas car, who knows. It definitely doesn't conform to US standards so it might not be vented. It certainly doesn't SOUND like it is vented.

Nothing you can do will make an improvement until you vent the trunk. So forget aiming them, forget covering your walls in anything, forget everything except the idea of venting your trunk. lean the seat armrest forward in the back seat if you have one and open the ski pass to the trunk. Lay a back seat down if you can. In extreme cases I have seen people use 2 inch hole saws to drill out the trunk, which is pretty extreme and I wouldn't bother unless you could find a way to justify going that far.

This is the interior to your car: http://files.conceptcarz.com/img/Nissan/nissan_bluebird_sylphy_manu-06_02.jpg

When you fold that armrest down on the back seat, does it have a way to go through to the trunk? If so, get that hole open. It's a nice big hole that will vent your trunk. It's not about getting sound out, it' about getting air in.

Trunk doesn't need to be vented. It sounds like a problem with both, but it does sound like cancellation is involved. Moving it around may very well make it quite a bit louder.

It's a lot easier to try than venting the trunk. I would go the route of moving it around first. With a lack of luck, then go to venting the trunk. Removing the rear speakers is a great way that can still look stock. Opening up between the armrest works, but doesn't look good.

well i opened up the armrest on the rear seat and yeah there is a hole that leads to the trunk ... but that doesn't help much ... my system is loud but it's losing efficiency because of all the rattling ... just talked to a friend who suggested installing a kicker kx3 crossover with subsonic filter option which is supposed to cancel out unwanted frequencies that cancel out the bass and cause the rattle ... will that help?
