Sub No Worky

Hi...I recently purchased the DEH-1800 model CD player and installed it without a problem. When I plugged my existing subwoofer in(via RCA cables) to the Preamp Output, nothing came out of the sub except very little vibration of the cone(no audible noise). I then reinstalled my previous Line Output Converter to check to see if the sub or amp still worked, and the sub played fine. So, what I think is going on is that the RCA Preamp is putting out a signal that has no low frequency audio in it because it has some sort of a passive crossover in it. Is there any way to make my sub able to be played through the RCA Preamp of the DEH-1800 or should I just use my aftermarket LOC? Thanks!

did you turn the sub on in your headunit settings???

I don't think that Pioneer 1800 has a sub control, I may be wrong though.

Sounds like to me that you have a bad set of pre-outs on that deck. If you did a direct swap out with the LOC and everything was fine. You ruled out the sub, the amp, and the cables.

If you do have a Subwoofer control, turn it up, if not. see about getting a refund on the deck.

x2 and even though it is a low line pioneer, they're still might be a crossover affecting the pre-out, set the Low-Pass to around 60-80...

Thanks for you help! Ok, so how do I adjust the crossover in my headunit. I couldnt find it in the menu. I have no idea if it has a sub control or not and im pretty sure its something to do with crossovers because the cone on the woofer is moving very little....I live on Bayshore btw...where do you live?

There is no crossover in the head unit, or any setting that could filter bass from the preamp outputs.

Did you try just adjusting the gain on your amplifier? Often an LOC provides a higher signal voltage than a head unit, especially an entry level head unit like the DEH-1800.
