Sub make noise when pushed in?

I have an old SI BM, it still seems to work fine but when i push in on it I can hear and feel it scraping something. does anyone know what is going on.

If you are pushing directly in the center of the dust cap.. in most cases that means its blown. i've been told..

voice coil is rubbing which means prolly about to blow or already has

If you are pressing it in the center and yes it is rubbing then u have a problem....

do you know what is actually causing it. is the voice coil scraping in the gap? how does this happen?

put a ddm on each coil to see the reading

Hmm, coil rub. I had a sub do this a while back and the motor had shifted...

usually means burnt/blown coil.. put a dmm on each coil to see the readings

also heard that it could be shifted magnents as well.. check the coils first

if you power it and there is no rubbing dont worry about it. some subs have a tight gap and if you dont push directly in the center it will rub...
