Sub-Firing In trunk question..

ok, got a 97 grand am i am installing my 15" round solo-baric sub into. I have already built the box to kicker spec of 1.5 cuft sealed. that is all good. originally was planning on just firing rearward in trunk....but, for security and to see if it would be better sound wise.....i got to thinking about downfiring the sub in the trunk. lets say i have a square box and i want to set it up....oh i don't know 3" sub face to trunk floor....on 2 sides of the box add wood to set it up off the floor.....

would 3" be enough?

and what would be the pro-con of doing this???

i like the security feature of it because once i carpet it, it won't be so noticable if i open trunk at stores and such........

thoughts?

thanks. im not wanting to take up my whole trunk with sub box at this time. just sticking to the kicker spec for now...i am sure it would get louder...but the 15 will be plenty for me in this car...just cheap daily driver car.

thanks
