Sub Cuts Out

So i just had a new alternator installed and the battery replaced. i have a jbl 1200.1 amp powering a resonant engineering HC 12" i thnk is at 1000 rms. The amp is rated to be used with a sub at 1200 rms. I was trying to figgure out why when i turn up my volume my sub cuts out before it even gets to a good bumping level. i was just trying to figgure out why in general does it do this. Is it because i am not getting enough power to it? or is my amp not doing the job? Imma try to move around my ground and reinstall the wire, heard this might make a difference.

thanks- Jason

Sounds like it might be an ohm load issue. The amp cant handle the ohm load that you have connected, so the amp goes into protect mode. (I'm assuming it goes into protect, if the amp is shutting off completely then you probably have voltage issues)

oh and Homsar > Pom Pom in my opinion

call me a noob

so what exactly does an ohm issue mean?

Here are the specs on my amp:

MSRP U.S. $ $549.95

ok so u have the same amp i have. From what I hear it is stable @ 1 ohm but its not written on paper. I have heard of people running the GTO at 1 ohm daily and no problems so maybe its going below 1 ohm?

If not then its electrical because I know it used to happen to me. Check what ohm config that sub is.
