Hi, my two clarion xw-1500 15" are installed in a sealed box. When playing really low bass, they sounnd greaaaat. But with most other music where the bass is knda boum boum boum, at each boum the subs are rattling, with music where the bass is like: bouuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmm kinda extended bass, the woofers are soo smoothh and bass is great. What should i do, i have to dcrease the gains a looooottt and the sub will barly move to get rid of the rattle. With some music its great, with others i cannot increase the volume cz of the rattles. My recomended sealed box dimensions are 2.4ft^3, mine is 3.3ft^3, i even tried to add wood blocks inside the box and nothing has changed. The rattle sound id like if someone took a microphone and started doing psst pssst pssst the woofers gets out of control pumping....like when an airplane is flying smoothly then bang gets down several feets cz no more air....th:)

Air leak in the box?

My first thought was that you're driving them into Xmech and bottoming out, but since you didn't say the problem happens with really low bass I'm not sure that's correct.

No air leaks whatsoever, i am using 2 clarion APA4320 to power two Clarion xw-1500 15" subs. Subs rated at 600 rms each, every amp can provide 500rms, they are 4ch amps. Subs are DVC, every coil is 4Oohm. Every amp is 4 ch, so i am bridging each two channel to one voice coil of the sub. With really low bass they are sooooooooo smooth, when the bass chages rapidly or is like boum boum boum....=> rattles, cone is getting out of control.Like when u are listening to music and they sudenly put a comercial brake where someone starts talking.....

Ahhh one more thing, when i open the trunk the rattling increases, if i put my hand on the cone a bit it disapears, or even when i close the trunk, the inside of the car creates like a compression area so rattling decreases.....

Could be your car rattling . Take the box outside of the car and play them, se eif they still do it. Ive heard setups that sound blown because the back dash rattles strangely. Also, tighten the screws seuring the woofer.

A panel in your sealed box may be loose, feel for air leaks.

Last resort, take them out of the box, and play each one individually, free air, slowy increasing volume to listen for the noise. Test it with an ohmmeter. It might be blown, or there is something in the dustcap even. Hundreds of possibilites here. Help us eliminate some.

have they always rattled?? try to get a hold of a friends subs to put in the box...see if its the box or the speakers or as some 1 else said the car itself if its the speakers they are probally blown....ive never heard clarion subs...but i dont think they are very good (i may be wronge)... also 15s tend to get sloppy with the double bass and if they are cheap subs they will be even worse

Dude clarion subs are very good:S i payed 350US$ for each one.Sure in USA its cheaper, and nope they are not blown, i did test the coil with a DMM, my car is surely rattling yes, but when i open the trunk and if i put my hand on that membrane of the coil the ratling stops cz cone is like reaching its maximum, but when i play songs with continous extended bass( booummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm) not like boum boum boum, i do not hear any rattling and sound is great. on these songs the coil moves sooooo fasttt and in a very controlable manner, so i guess certain frequencies or certain songs are not good for my woofer unless i really lower the volume.
