ok so i picked up a JBL powered home theater sub off the side of the road to mess with and was plesently suprised when i got it home and plugged it in. it worked fine and actually sounded decent. so i hooked it up to my receiver and tossed some music on in the garage while i worked on the car. about 30 min later there was this horrible "popping" noise repeating every second or so comming from the sub. so i unplugged it and plugged it back in and it worked fine. well i moved it into the living room and put some bass heavy music on since the wife and kids had left(my only time to really have some fun...) and as soon as the bass line of "i put on" hit, the sub sounded like it was burping or something. turned the volume down and it sounds great, turn it back up and you can actually hear the noise start and get worse. i pulled the sub out of the enclosure and the sub is mechanicly sound, even hooked it up and free-aired it to max-X(as listed on JBLs site) and no noise. so i hooked up a pair of 6.5" subs i have to the JBL amp and still makes the noise.
anyone know what could be wrong with it? i gooled the sub and aparently its a soewhat commmon problem. some pple say a blown cap is the problem and others say that the "control module" on the amp board is bad.
any ideas? im in the process of getting a power supply to run a Car audio amp for my subs in my house so finding this was like christmas, until it farted...
