sub/amp/HU problem

When i first got my new subs (type-e's) and amp(alpine m450), i tuned down the gain and the bass boost a little bit. I had it like this for about a week, then last night i turned them back up to where they were the day i got them installed. When i started listening to it today i cranked it up to where the installer said the max volume was and something sounded a little off..the bass just wasnt as clear as it normally is. After i heard this I turned the volume down, and it still sounded a little off but nothing seemed wrong really. I thought that this was the CD maybe so i popped in another one. When i ejected the CD, my Head Unit (Pioneer deh-1600) turned off. This is really strange and has never happened before, and each time i eject a CD it now turns off, ontop of the subs sounding a little weird. Im just wondering what the problem may be, or what i could do. thanks
