Stupid Question Re: Using both front speaker out and Front RCA out

Hi Guys. Question on newbie building up system. This might sound dumb for some but can i still use the speaker out of my front channel from HU even if i'm using the RCA front out of HU? Reason is I want to install 3 inch or 4 inch speaks on my dash to lift my soundstage. cheers!

yea as long as you haven't turned off the head units internal amp in the settings but not all head units even give that option.

thanks for the quick response goingdef. much appreciated. while we're on the topic. do you think placing 4 inch mids on both ends of my dash would help my staging? (i can't afford custom kickpanels but i can afford to place holes on my front dash ;-). my tweets are in my a-panel facing the windshield (that seems the best place i've tried that's given the most discernible centre) thanks again!

As long as you can split the freq range played by eash componet in the stage its great, but you want the power layed out right also. You dont want one freq range weaker then the rest

hmm... okay, so my 4-ch amp is powering my front comps with 2-ch and 2-ch bridged for my subs. my HU is feeding front rca and sub rca separately. should i just line the 3.5" coax i plan to install on my dash via my rear speaker line off my HU so i have fader capabilities and therefore, more control over them? thanks heaps guys. (i'm still trying to find my way around these things and on a shoestring budget as well)

I had 3.5" coaxials in the dash in my Oldsmobile, up high near the windshield (factory location). Ran them off the front speaker outputs with bass blockers. Reflections off the windshield messed with imaging and I eventually took them out. It certainly raised the sound stage though. You might need to attenuate them a bit with series resistors if you do it.

thanks heaps for the help mates. i guess i will try the setup out and see if it helps me any. at the mo, it's a nightmare just trying to find pods here in NZ let alone 3.5 inch ones.
