Strong Midbass speakers?

I'm thinking of possibly selling the rear fills in my car and getting just flat midbass speakers. The reason why is 2 fold: The tweeters on my Polk easily overpower the Type-R's, even with +3 db on the R's. The R's are also aimed at each other, by the door handle, roughly at the bicep level sitting in the seats. Also, the Polks are more limited at 5.25" with midbass hit then the 6.5" R's. It just doesn't perform well below the 80-100 Hz range. They are really clear and crisp though, just bad location.

So, I'm looking into dremmel and modding in a Midbass driver to the rear. I will have 200 watts of clean RMS to throw into all 4 doors eventually, so I am shopping now. I'm looking into decent throw which can hang with the music even during complex instument sessions, not missing a beat.

I have been warned that strong midbass in the rear might take away from the fronstage, is this true by experience? I understand that many skip rear fill due to this reason, but I'm running 60 RMS rear and 70 RMS front, and I don't mind the rearfull even with a fullrange, I could imagine the stronger hit minus loud tweeters would be better in the rear for soundstage as opposed to what i am running now.

Got any decently priced ideas? I'm looking into less that 250$ for midbasses to fit the bill. I buy online/E-bay, and I listen to fast pace techno, (some happy hardcore) Urban techno-ish (club mixes of Lil John, Bhusta Rhymes, etc..), and Metal (In Flames, Disturbed, Killswitch Engage, etc...). I'm getting the Polks for the front stage as I have heard them play this music and fell in love.

Thanks for any help!

But if I x-over at 200 hZ, would that be noticeable? With the tweeters where I have them, and with the louder much better Momo tweeters, I could only imagine hearing those versus 200Hz in the rear, right?

ok sorry for kinda jackin this thread but i have my midbass speakers and im not sure what to power then with i have the 8inch kickerones my questoin is should i get a 2 chan or can i power then with a smaller mono amp ?

I'm assuming that crystal SSCS is Crystal mobile Audio? Anyways, I cannot find the mids separated from the component system. If anyone has a link, It would be greatly appreciated, I only know where to find the mainstream stuff //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Also, at 200 peak, I'd assume the RMS is about 120 rms?

If you're willing to spend $250 on them why not spend that money to upgrade your front stage instead to get the sound you're looking for?

1st off, I envy your car, but not your gas mileage //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Anyways, I am doing the homework now. I'm actually getting 1.5 rolls Raamat next, then the Polks, then the Xenon 200.4, and lastly the Midbass, because I know they are ultimately the least important equipment to obtain.

But if I know everything I'm getting, their prices, and their effects, I can organize them in my desired order, and know what I need in order to get them and install them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Thanks for the links, I'm gonna check into them now

fawk audio-n-more. those crooks claimed to have sscs 5 when they were never even planned to be made for 6 or more months.

depending on how low you run the sscs mid, is how much power you can put on them. down to 80 hz, they'll take more than 120rms.

crystal's ssw 5.25 is another candidate for you. not sure if/when they plan to release the ssw 6.

if you've got $250 to spend, i would use digital designs W6.5LT. it will kill the crystals in efficiency, output, power handling, and low end extension.

I've got an idea, I should have remembered earlier.

Anyone have experience with the Xenon component sets? I've heard good things about them, but nothing detailed. Their comps midbasses hit 150 RMS with a sensitivity of 88 or so. 70 Hz as a floor is a bit high, but if they can hang with the rest of the system, I can cross the sub over at 80 (generally where it is supposed to anyways). Heck, I could even mess with tweeters for the rear, aim them towards the rear seats headrest area, so they don't reflect off of the rear windshield, then turn slope to negatives. We'll see.

Anyways, sound like a good idea?

Although, those DD look nice. I'm assuming Music stands for dynamic, meaning I can have max gains(powerwise, not clipping) on a 200 RMS amp and because I'm not playing sine waves, I'd be fine?
