strapping saz1500d's

well something is definitly wrong if you got dual 2's and you series it and get 2.8,you should be at 4ohms.
It would be fairly reasonable for a 2 ohm coil to have a 1.4 ohm DCR, thus netting a 2.8 ohm DCR series load. It varies woofer to woofer... the SI Mag, for instance, has a 1.75 ohm DCR which would net 3.5 ohms in series DCR; the Rockford T1152D2 has a 1.55 ohm DCR netting a 3.1 ohm DCR in series.

The FI Audio BTL D2 has a 1.5 ohm DCR netting 3.0 ohms DCR in series. We ran a pair of Sundown SAZ-1500Ds strapped to each coil of a dual 2 ohm model no problem at the woofer show-down. This was a 0.75 ohm DCR on each amp so it was no sweat... they produced a measured 2.5kw each acording to some clamp meters with, IIRC, less than 14 volts supply (Chad and Loyd can probably tell you exactly).

The lowest DCR I have tested the SAZ-1500D at extensively is 0.4375 ohms from a pair of SI Mag D2 12s. Below that and you are going lower than my testing has gone. I suspect that they will run fine in competition with a 0.35 ohm DCR, perhaps even daily, but it has not been tested thoroughly so I can't guarantee it for you for sure.

The 0.5 ohm warranty coverage covers a 0.5 ohm manufacturer rated nominal impedance. This is a warranty against a damaged amplifier and not going into protection.

so you've extended this warranty to all subs, not just the mags?

if so, that means a D1 BTL wired to 0.5 ohms (manufact. rated) would be 0.35 or so DCR?

and you warranty that?

that's a quality amp with a confident company behind it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

testing started at 15.5 ish volts (peak power reading was taking during the burp not at the beginning as the meters without peak hold were holding steady with the others who were on peak hold i.e. at 12.8 volts the amps produced 2500 watts per )

dropped immediately into the 13s.. when it hit 12.9 i hit the charger on to 250 amp engine start which held it pretty steady at 12.8 until the sub started dying at which time it dropped to 12.6 and then teh amps turned off and the voltage came up to 13 then 14 then i shut off the charger about 3-4 seconds afterward

btw jake i called nick when i was in town.. he was not awake so i just drove home...

They are covered by warranty at a factory rated 0.5 ohm nominal load, so yes, you are correct that your 0.35 DCR load is covered if the amplifier breaks down. The protection circuit is VERY effective and 99.9% of the time will prevent the amplifier from killing itself even if you do something obscene to it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you check my official forum there is a post about 0.5 ohm nominal warranty coverage.

bah humbug.... we have more subs to test u need to come back down //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif... i also have a pair of bm 10s im gonna throw 4kw at and see how they like it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ah, good call on the protection //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i don't check the official forums, so this was news to me. i had heard about mags being covered at 0.5 rated a while ago.
