strange problem

i tried putting a pioneer HU in and it only works while the key is on acc. but when you start the car you can see that the power is on to the HU but there is no sound. anyone got any ideas what the problem could be. it is wired direct with no wiring harness.

we checked and re checked but still have the same problem. would a dead switch wire do it?

what kinda car i ask because you say you checked ur wires did you check them with a dmm with both car on and off? you may have got a swtiched ground wire or soemthing of t he sort

it is a 96 s-10 blazer. we used a test light when we checked everything.

shoulda got a harness for only $10, but you have sound w/ car off??

wire harness would have been the same as my s10. i got one at car toys for 14$. there are 2 though. depends on your vehicle. if the door dings come through the speakers, then you need the expensive harness. if the door ding isn't ran through the stereo, then you can use the cheapo.

i would have bought a wiring harness but my husband decided not to. and when he cut the original one out he lost it. so now im trying to work with what we have.and our dinger does come through the door speakers
