Stinky after recone?

Clipping can cause the effective RMS power to theoretically be as much as the peak power, although it would sound like a$$ and more than likely kill the amp.

If the coils are getting dark, too much thermal power for them. . .

Were they reconed with the correct coils?

yes both D2

ok, so sub wiring > me.

I made a stupid mistake.

So i take it around the block to see how it sounds without annoying my next door neighbor, turn it up to my "listening level" and the subs start to go bonkers. I unplug my ipod, but they don't stop. I flip my killswitch to the 4000D to turn it off. Flip it back on with the volume down, its in protect, off again, flip it on again, sounds fine, then i turn it up and it does the same thing.

Now its doing that pattern...suggestions?

EDIT: and it wasn't doing this when the subs were out of phase
