Noob question here, but what is this used for?

this is use when you have 2 batteries. Its for playing your music or whatever else when the car is off and the car only uses 1 battery. that way when you go to start the car. 1 battery isn't drained and has plenty of juice left. and then it also always both batteries to be charged once the car is on.
