One amp is meant for high quality performance and normal listening levels for a daily driver. The other is a small foot print amp directed at people who are worried about every last watt and care about pure output.

Are you saying that the Stetsom amps are not high quality performance amps at normal listening levels? What are you basing this opinion on?

No not at all, I said the Stetsom is directed at a different crowd of customer. I have been around more then enough JL amps over the years, and have seen in person plenty of Stetsom amps locally in the last couple.

Does anyone know the efficiency of the JL Audio Amp?

I know people love the small size of the Stetson amps, but they have sacrificed thermal stability by using heatsinks too small for the wattage they put out.
Theres a reason old school amps were big, and even modern multi kilowatt amps are larger.

The heatsinks need to be big enough to draw off the heat even class D amps make so they dont bake the components inside.

They are probably perfect for burps in soundoffs, but for everyday use between those two I would say JL.

Um. Tell me about the network Rds(on) differences between larger Stetsoms and other brand's (xenon, zed) THEN you can make that claim.

They operate off of a different logic. Something that is not superbuildhouse idea infested. There are a couple of downs to some of their stuff(as every amplifier design does), but heat dissipation is not one of them.

Voltage drop is my guess or a bad ground.
