Stereo got jacked time for upgrade

I have a 93 Civic Hatchback. My stereo just got stolen. I had 2 12" Alpine Type E subs powerd by an Alpine M400 amp. They got the subs but the amp was bolted to the seat so they left it. They took my deck too. I got a car alarm installed now and its time for a new setup.

Anyways I want to buy a new system again. I am looking for sub/amp for around $500. What can you recommend that would be noticeably better then my previous system? I can use the AMP I have or upgrade amp. Whatever I need to do. Thanks.

I didnt like how much space the two 12's took up. I think w 10's might be better I am sort of leaning towards that. But most importantly I want to out bump the old stuff. I would like as much power for the buck. If it can make me def and rip my car a part thats what I want. Most bang for the buck for 500.

I am going to bolt down everything to help secure it better. Any suggestions best way to do that? I was thinking of a big bolt and drilling it through the inside of the box and through the chassis of the car. Would that work?

with a metal plate in the box for the bolt to go thru.and 500 may not get you what you want, but would be a good start.you could do a single 12 in a ported box on 1500 watts rms or so.a single 10 dont know if that will work,as far as getting louder.if you wanna save some space look into a pair or 8's. i can do a new pair of dc 8's and a powerbass xta 1500 for that 500 shipped then you just need a ported box ,which you can build yourself for about $50

Yeah, put a bolt through the bottom of the box and into the bottom of the car, be sure to locate the gas tank before you drill. Then I'd use odd shaped screws for mounting the subs into the box and amp.

#2 square heads work really well,or even torx.and also yes 1500 on the level 2's just turn down the gain a little 1000 would be better tho as they are built to take 600 watts each [under rated], if the signal is clean.and yes 2 good 8's would sound great maybe even better than your alpine type e's.but it's really about what kind of car and the box.
