Starter Setup?

I recently bought a 94' probe, that was pre wired for two amps. The previous owner left the old sony xplod head unit, but took the two amps. I was wondering what a good setup at a reasonable cost would be - replacing the factory speakers also. Someone recommended getting a full alpine package. I have some old vintage Realistic Amp that says 80w + 80w - not sure if its any good, I can't find any thing on it anywhere. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

type r's aren't bad, nor their head units. i don't like their components though. i got their type r 6 1/2 comps and i really don't like 'em. nothin' wrong with their subs or head units though. amps aren't bottom of the barrel either.

Page 18 specs - > 4 - 8 ohms 50w x 4 @ 4ohms

I was thinking maybe I could by some speakers and use that old realistic as the speaker amp, then by a sub amp + subs.

i would build one, but this one has the right air space, assuming they know how to use a tape measure and calculator.

I'm liking the Hifonics and the type r, not really sure about the phoenix and cadence. I'll probably by a ported box somewhere.

ported boxes need to be really accurate to the specs of the sub. i personally wouldn't go with a prefab ported. phoenix gold makes excellent amps. i like cadence, but polk makes good components as well for a decent price.

Now with those components where would I put the tweeters, do some custom dremel work in my doors? Would I need another pair of speakers to go with those?
