ssa sub ??

The market foot print has a lot to do with the price and hype. We have our Gcon price as low as we can take it to where is barely makes sense to still build it, along with we don't drive a hype train on our products.
If you wanted to "drive a hype train" I would gladly do some advertising for you !!!SSA!!! But sadly right now I'm running an Spl woofer

The Gcon is a really strong sound quality sub for the money. That power is plenty for a Gcon, and they like sealed enclosures for sure. The Gcon might not have as much coverage as technically it is the newest of our model lines. The only main difference about the Gcon and any other SSA sub is that it does not have a solid pole. I have not listened to an HDS to compare, so I can't add on that question.

That is because if I edit my sig, all links go poof. So it's out of date, but still has important links in it.
What effect does having (or not having) a solid pole have on the sub?

It is part of the design of the motor, in simplified terms, it is essentially more steel in the motor which (if needed in the design) can add greater motor force because more steel is saturated by the magnet. The Gcon does not need it at this time.

Thanks for the information. It blows my mind to think of how much goes into making a quality subwoofer. I can't wait until the day I get the opportunity to run an SSA sub in my car.

For the Icon and up (power rating wise), I usually suggest a double baffle. As to effect on the sound, that is very dependent on the quality of the enclosure and the design of the box.

I know //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. I just bought a Sundown SA 10 from you guys about two months ago because not having any bass was killing me. Once I get my sound dampening in order, I'm probably going to give my fiancee the Sundown and get an ICON. I would love to pull the trigger on an XCON, but I will never play my music loud enough to warrant spending the extra money on it. With that being said, the reviews on these two models are extraordinary.

That sounds like a nice plan. Side note though, the Xcon does not need mega power, and in most installs will have greater output on the same power than the Icon.

So it would run louder on about 1500 than the Icon?
It's more efficient due to having more motor force, so yes.

I can't wait to get my pair of ZCON 12s playing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
