SS Rl-i 8" power

thanks for the link, also, I am thinking about getting a single 8 and putting it on a sundown sae1000D getting 600rms at 2ohms, then later I can add another rli and get the full 1000rms, do that sound like a good idea?? thank you

my exact plans. but with the tc1000 8. basicly the same woofer.

box sould be built this week.

still got to order another sub though...

^^ lol, 8"s are getting popular, I can only get my sub:( I have to wait to get money for an amp, you going ported or sealed?? also anyone know how the sq is on these ported?

I've got 2 RL-i's in the wifes car running off a Directed 1500d sealed. Awsome subs. I wish I could aford to get a few more, lol.

well I found out that I miight need new brakes:( so I'm afraid that I wont be able to get the Rli's, for more of a budget, I can get DD 1508's for about 40$'s cheaper shipped and was wondering how these sound sq wise, I know that they can get just as loud as the Rl-i's but want to know sq, thank you

also I will save if I must to get the SS's unless it wouldnt be worth the wait and I should just go with the DD's, will there be much of a difference between the 2 subs, thank you

I too am running a pair of RL-i 8's and can't seem to get them to sound good. The box is vented and the port is so long that it's an accordian type vent style. Perhaps someone here can relay some answers for me.

boomn, what are the box specs? amp, xover settings? did you round over all the port corners and ends? and does the box leak anywhere? and what, as close to exact as you can describe, doesn't sound good?

The enclosure external measures 29"X12"X14" the vent length is 36" long. In answer to your questions, yes I routed all the corners....including the port area, which btw is 10.5"X2". Ampflication is from a Planet Audio mono amp and have a factory radio....aurgh. I noticed that when I press gently inward on either sub, it sounds 1000x better than if I didn't. This is in the back of my Tahoe behind the backseat with the vent firing directly at the tailgate....nothing else back there. Subs move fine maybe 1/2" but just no bass....no air coming out of the port. I should say this....my vent is an accordian type since the vent length is so long. I wonder if this interferes with the subs play ability at all. Hope this helps. If you want more info, I'll do my best to describe more.

are the subs in phase?

I was wondering that myself. I'm pretty sure they are but doesn't hurt to look at them to see if they are. What are some signs that are similar to my story??
