Square Kicker or Classic Round

Garry Biggs for one, competing in IASCA Ultimate //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Only the hardest competition division there is. Won using a 10L7.

There have been many others. Can't recall names off hand. As Ryan said, Polecat could give you the full run down.

That said.....the square L7's don't do it for me personally.....

i like em. i mean yeah ive seen better sq but you could say ive seen better for every company.. ive put L5s in several different boxes.. i liked the way they sounded in most of em. response wanst always sounding all that flat cept for the sealed box, but i usually found them to be very clean and pretty punchy.

Well, I sure would like to know.
well, how many names and classes do you need? do a google serach if you'd like, it stated SQ awards in 2000....

the round solo's were great for small sealed enclsoures. Now, go up to 2006, we have the CVX, a great addition where the older rounds dropped off, because the ratio of people looking for SQ versus LOUD changed, so hence the L7. The L7 has more Sd , so it will get louder.

But just in the last 4 years, that USACi gave away Grand Master SQ awards, Kicker, with L7's, won 3 of them.....

I see you've set aside this special time to humiliate yourself in public.
Wow, whats with the hostility man? I just asked a question since it seemed far fetched that a SPL woofer took a SQ comp. Clearly this has happened and now I know this. But why try to slam me like that when I've said nothing hostile toward you??//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

consider your self F'd with //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

but seriously, they have done very, very well in SQ. Even when Gary had the 12 man shoot out, his car went against the top 12 SQ cars in the US in AZ, and took first at that as well. But there is a list of names that have used them with great success. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

alot say sq how would you define sq wouldnt that be up to the person to deside because what sounds to one might sound good to another myself i love car audio i dont compete but my friends and i buy car audio and show off at the park or car wash and i been in to caraudio for 12 years and some brands that get bash on this forum i have heard in setups and sound good depending on the music you like but rap & r &b to me sounds great on L7 and round IMO SQ is up to the person listening ear

How well the output of the speaker matches the source material. The closer they match, the better the sound quality

SQ is up to the person listening ear
You can enjoy 150db of bass and 100db of treble...but no matter how hard you try, that will never be "sound quality" no matter how much the person listening enjoys it. This is why sound quality is not completely listener dependent.

True sound quality is how well the output matches the source material. Plain and simple.

i vote myself for a late nite mod //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif im gonna try some L712s out, polecat will the 06 handle sayyyyy 1200w each daily?
yes, have heard some great feedback on them in compeition cars already, even when double the power was added.I had a KX2500 on mine daily...06 model

true, but here is my take on what I think he meant. Each person has his own determination what sounds good to them. While 'dictionary' terminology will remain what SQ really means, I bet 90% of the kids listing to their system do not go by the true text book definition of SQ. If you look at the settings on the HU on EQ, this will prove so. But when I see so many people post that they have a 2000 watt amp and two 15's in a ported box and want SQ, then they want SQ for 'their' purpose. Not really text book SQ, but what sounds great to him/her.
Not debating what you mean, because I agree, and know what you mean. SQ is if the system can reproduce the recordings as accurate as possible, with great stage and depth, with the center stage dead on.

Problem is, not many garage installs spend that kinda time or resources.

So in all, the majority will have self SQ taste. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
