SQL...so many choices

I'm looking to get a new sub and am baffled on what to get. I initially wanted something that would be just plain loud but after thinking about it I'm not so sure this is the best idea(it'd be cool at first but when that wow factor wears off I don't want to be stuck with a sub that sounds like total garbage).

I was initially looking at 4 dd 1508's in a ported enclosure. I know this'll get decently loud but will they sound good too? What other brands should I look into. I was thinking maybe fi q's or something like that. Any help is appreciated.

Edit: I'm not looking to upgrade my electrical just yet so I'm looking to stick around 1500 or so watts.

Subs cannot sound good on their own. IMO, you need some nice mids to complement then with the whole system.

I don't understand how people can label a single driver as sq or sql. Let's say you have a so-called SQ sub with crappy front speakers... will the system still have SQ qualities?

You can also have an awesome frontstage and kill it by drowning it out with a loud SQ sub.

Careful JB as you're making WAY too much sense for this forum //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Off 1500watts a FI Q, HDC, or 2 SDC's would sound good and be able to get loud when you're in the mood. Solid midbass and the remote gain knob are your friend for making the sub(s) blend with your front stage.

Geez, if you don't know the answer just don't post.

I'm kind of wanting to slightly more towards the spl side. Out of the 05 xxx's and the hdc3's which has the potential to get louder(I know there's a lot of factors but which COULD be louder). Guess I should factor in the fi q as well, I've seen a lot of people rave about them.
