SQ sub with solid output

dodge dakota, i took one of the back seats out behind me and box will be there.
i had 2 fosgate punch 2 12s off of 400 watts, i think the punch 3 12s would be all i could handle, any more and i would just be turning them down. Loud is fine, but hurting my ears is not what i want.

ID Max is out of question its out of my budget. im fine with it being loud, i just want to maintain SQ. So is there something like the ID Max but under $300, thats why ive been looking at the incriminator flatlyne and FI Q. im not limiting myself to those but thats just whats been suggested.

If ID Q =strictly SQ

what is the regular ID line?

Either one will sound great and get more than loud enough for you...so what's wrong with turning it down a bit? Rather be too loud than not enough...

I don't get how you say you want output, when you're really looking for low to mid 30s on the TL...that's not very loud.

I'd go with the Fi Q for the price, honestly...

Just remember, that SQ is more enclosure, not driver, dependent.

Either one will sound great and get more than loud enough for you...so what's wrong with turning it down a bit? Rather be too loud than not enough...

I have no problem with turning it down a bit. I clearly said i dont have a problem with that. I would rather have plenty than buy again and not have enough output again.

I have 2 polk audio mm1040 subs running off of 870watts rms and they dont provide enough output for me. Am i wrong for wanting more output? I guess i can just stick with them and forget about more output if thats what u suggest.

I know this. Does that mean i can personally build a sealed box to spec for a 12" L7 and its going to have good SQ? I thought they had bad SQ, but of course thats just what ive read.

If I say i have good SQ subs but i want more output. What makes u think im going to buy a new sub with more output, then not have the same quality box i had with my other subs?

If i built it, my friend built it, prefab box, doesnt matter. i heard it with my previous subs thought it was good, why would i change and decide hey let me get a prefab box for my new subs even tho i loved my personally built box before.

i guess ill never understand that. Either that or there are just some idiots on here that u guys really feel the need to specify these things. I may be a noob with car audio but if the manual says this big a box this much power, then ill follow those directions

I'm still thinking you may want to try building a ported box for your current subs before going out and buying new subs.... It'll cost alot less and you may be suprised by the output increase from the same subs.... just a thought

Im sorry i wasnt taking offence, but perhaps u have the answer for me. im just skeptical that if i go with something like 15" FI Q or IA flatlyne it will sacrifice some SQ to get loud. but ur saying as long as i build a quality box it will be fine?

ive just never built a ported box. ive built 1 box and it sucked i didnt have the right equipment or the space. had the wood half in back of my truck and half sitting on something else. it was uneven and was so much fun... lol

yea alot of times the first couple boxes will come pretty crappy after ya build a few they start looking better and better... I still hate working with MDF all that insanely fine sawdust that gets everywhere and having to pre-drill every hole so it doesn't crack and split.... but in the end its always so worth it to know your handywork made your sub sound so good

Granted i dont have very high output subs, but i used nails instead of screws and i didnt pre drill the holes, they went in perfectly fine, and have not budged at all. MDF sawdust does get everywhere but i agree its worth it. how difficult is doing a ported box? i havent even looked into it but i still think something like FI Q 15" will be sick compared to what i got now

designing a ported box is harder than building one in my opinion. It's really not much harder once you've got your design figured out, but if you do it for your Polk subs the polk website has the design they reccomend already layed out for you.

use an online box calculator or get someone on here to design you a ported box for like $5-10. Then build it up one afternoon. Can be nearly as easy as a sealed box except 1 extra piece of wood and a hole.

You can always keep the box and use it later/sell it if it does not work out with those subs.

Image's lineup goes like this

CTX- entry level "budget" line. good sounding sound bigger enclosure.

ID- mid level good output decent sq mid size enclosure

IDQ- sound quality orientated good output great SQ small enclosure

IDMax- SQL sound quality that gets LOUD.

i run 2 IDQ12v3 in a 2 cubic foot box one cube per sub off 1200 watts gain either all the way down or 1/4 way up and it gets plenty loud. some prefer the sound of the old v2 but the v3 have more output.

depending on what the rest of your system is comprised of i'm not sure how your system is "missing a beat"

ID Q FTW I can not see a 15 inch going as tight as a 12.

there are plenty of SQ cars who run 15s and the bass i plenty tight and sounds great.

I agree but it costs more than most 15" subs. IDMAX 10 is $400 12 is $450why spend that money when i could spend $264 for a 15 that will blow that idmax out with output anyways.

but comparing say FI Q 12" to an Image dynamics 12 how much of a difference SQ wise? even noticeable?

depending on the sub your getting and the enclosure you build. granted more cone area rules. but i have seen 8s that sound louder then 15s. so don't assume that a 15 will blow away the max.
