SQ Sub for a smallish box, trunk mounted

Glassing in a small enclosure into my trunk, I would like to minimize the size of it.

The most power I could throw at a DVC sub would be 250wrms x 2 (@4ohms)-- PG zx475ti

My current sub choices and sealed box size:

RL-i 10" -- website rec'd 0.21cuft box (WinISD I get 0.284cuft) (Ebp of 84)

RL-p 12" -- website rec'd 0.75cuft (WinISD I get 0.3cuft) (Ebp of 102)

Re SE 10 -- website rec'd 0.65cuft (WinISD I get .6cuft) (Ebp of 57.8)

Re SE 12 -- website rec'd 1cuft (WinISD I get 1.627cuft) (Ebp of 51.2)

I was really sold on the RL-p until I saw the Ebp and a few recommendations to only port mount this sub, also unsure of SoundSplinters recommendation for such a large box as my WinISD plots show quite a roll off in the low frequencies with a computed Qtc of 0.48.

I can work up to a 1cuft box, but would prefer smaller. I work out of my car and really need my trunk. The setup will be used as a daily driver (40k miles a year).

Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.

Okay I added those to the list, but I must be doing something wrong with WinISD as it gives me a rec'd enclosure of 0.062cuft for the 12" and 0.03cuft for the 10"; whereas the Image Dynamics website states a small box would be 1.1cuft for the 12" and no listing for the 10" The Ebp's on both are nice for sealed at near 50 though.

Has anyone put any of these in a real small box, especially a strange shaped fiberglass one?

How small of a box can I put the rl-p in and can it be sealed? I just re-hand calculated it from the LDC and again for a Qtc of 0.707 I get a box of 0.3cuft. My concern is how it will sound sealed with such a low Qts

Indeed he blasted off a more than expected answer to a couple of my questions--just got his response now. From that alone he sold me a sub. Now I am not sure between the 10 or 12.

His recommendations:

10" sealed 0.5to .75cuft

10" ported ~.85cuft tuned to 29Hz

12" sealed 1.25-1.35cuft

what to do....

Edit: Mikes answer on the box size was related to the overmotoring of the sub, overides the generic Qtc of .707

haha! told ya //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

erm well an rl-p WILL outperform an rl-i with the correct conditions of course. but if yoour on a MAJOR space problem go with the rli 10. but if you can squeeze in a little extra space, do the rlp 12. im hoping to get mine installed by the end of this month //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

edit: the 10" ported sounds pretty interesting too. i dunno

Are you going a sealed? How big of a box?
Edit: Pretty sure I am going to hook up with Ology for the front stage
good choice on the ology, hehe mee too!

but im going ~2.0 cubes tuned to 31 hz. with aero ports. im tryin to give myself some trunk space. 42x10.75x14 long skinny box.

Just tore my trunk out. I am going to make the mold first and then figure out about how much water it will hold. I would love the 12" but don't know if I have the space. Ought to be interesting as I have never glassed before. Thank the web!

DLS Iridium Subwoofers.!!! Someone on here try them! I wish I had enough power for one at 500 watst RMS @ 2 ohm... my amp only does 300 watst RMS x2 at 2 ohm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
