i have a 93 ranger reg cab. i have a JVC sx780 deck. i have some 6x9s in the front. i want to finish it up for SQ with some subs in the back + amp + maybe component speakers eventually in back/ dash.... i have about $500 max to spend to start with. i have heard that Adire Audio is good? i was maybe looking at audiobahn flame Q and eclipse but i am kinda a noob to the car audio. the dimensions in the back are kinda screwy, (12depth at bottom x 24length x 18hight x 4depth at top) for each side roughly at max.

thanks,

chris

well, i don't know much about the subs you choose, but the amp sucks for what you want. horrible for sq, and they actually put out something more along the lines of 150Wx2, not 900.

Damm straight. You should consider some 8" subs that can handle a small enclosure. I built a wedge shaped enclosure for my son's 97 reg cab Ranger for 2 Kicker Comp VR's and it'll blow your ears out with only 75 watts each.

My current project is 2 10 inch RE SE subs in my Ranger...ported. LOL.

You can put whatever you want in your truck. Don't let anyone discourage you and tell you that it can't be done. With a little bit of research and a lot of experimenting, you can do anything with that little truck that you can imagine.

Here's some specs on Rangers that you might find useful.

Maximum airspace behind stock seats using 3/4" MDF board: 1.5cuft. Box dimensions: 3" wide at top, 12.5" tall in the back, 48" long, 7.5" wide at bottom, and the face of the box is 13.5"x48". This will allow any combination of 8's 10's or 12's as long as they will work in a solobaric 1.5cuft box and have a mounting depth of less than 5".

You'll also have to cut the plastic behind the seats and remove the rear 5x7's as well as the carpet and cardboard that fit behind the seat. I highly suggest removing the stock bench seat as well.....gives you tons more room to work with.

my suggestion is to get a port through, thats what im gonna have to do with my 94 f150 cuz there is no room in the back, and im a big 'ol boy. they can be expensive if u get it done commercially, but u could probly do it yourself with some research.

Thanks,

those sites were just what a friend was looking at the other day... ill have to show him this site..

i dont have a bench seat in my ranger.... its a 1993 with buckets (driver side has the little middle stick-out thing)... is that what you mean? i could cut out the plastic and everything though. i could make that box (or have my neighbor make it), what would you recommend then as far as an amp/ sub(s) to fit in a box such as that?

i dont really want to put a hole in my truck... so porting through probably wont work...

ill take a look at alpine.. would you recommend eclipse? do any of you know a person with the handle "Drakhi"?

thanks for the help,

chris.

the factory seats are called "60/40 bench" seats. they **** and will limit what you can do as far as subwoofers in your truck. What you need is a pair of buckets from a junk yard, or a pair of momo buckets if you can afford 'em. Right now, i'm using that sealed box i described in my ranger with an audiobahn 1200Q inverted between a pair of toyota camry buckets......solves the mounting depth issue and looks bad as heck.

if you plan on competing, i also have plans for a 5cuft ported box tuned to the exact resonant frequency of a standard cab ford ranger, but you gotta take out the passenger seat to fit it. as you can see by my signature, i'm pulling pretty respectable numbers with both boxes.

As far as subs go, it's all up to you.....if you want sq, i'm not the guy to ask. I could care less if my sub sounds like a subatomic wet fart. as long as it will pull a 141 in a sealed box, i'm happy.

personally, i like JBL and Cadence for amps. Viper, Crossfire and MMATS make WAY better SPL amps, but I can't afford those. You really can't go wrong with JBL tho.... they're cheap, reliable and they really do put out the power they promise. i've done some crazy shit to my 1200.1 and my 600.1 and they lived thru it.

Lol.

i guess i could try to get some buckets from a junk yard... i think that some ford f=series seats could work.

What about this sub???:

K series 12

and this amp?

JBL 600.1

That would be an awesome setup...Ben (owner of Elemental Designs) is having some sub/amp combo deals that will be hitting the net on Monday or Tuesday. You can get 2 12s and an an Avonixx (sp?) amp for 800 bucks...that is a helluva deal.

Another consideration you might want to look into is putting a 10 in a the cab, and a 15 in the bed both running of seperate amps. Therefore, it is loud enough for you in the cab, and loud enough to piss people off outside...just a couple of suggestions.

By the way, LoneRanger is right, don't let people tell you what you can and can't do. I know I had over 50 people tell me I was crazy for even attempting to put a 15 in my Ranger, but I did. Fiberglass is an awesome thing!
